Our Music

The Thomas Coats Memorial Choral Society was founded in 1980.

Early in 2024 after consultation with its members, the decision was made to change our name to Coats Choral, refreshing our choir name and logo, whilst ensuring strong connections with both Thomas Coats and the town of Paisley were maintained.

Members rehearse from January for a performance in March each year and concerts take place in the beautiful architectural setting of Paisley Abbey, accompanied by a professional orchestra and soloists.

We have sung many of the major choral works over the past 38 years, and in recent years have performed regularly with the Paisley Classical Players and orchestras from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama). Since the closure of Coats Memorial Church our rehearsals have moved to Holy Trinity & St. Barnabas Church, Back Sneddon Street, Paisley.

Please see below for a summary of our full repertoire since our first annual concert in 1981!
